The Haute-Alsace: a country to discover


Between the Vosges and the Rhine River, at the border with Germany and Switzerland, the Haut-Rhin owns a heritage of an exceptional richness, with varied and preserved landscapes and an internationally known gastronomy.

The wine road of Alsace


The wine road winds from the North to the South across the hills of the vineyard over more than 170 km down the slopes of the Vosges Mountains.

Medieval cities, flowery alleyways, warm winstub and prestigious restaurants, Romanesque churches and Renaissance houses are some of the many treasures that mark out this enchanting path with a lot of animation such as the wine Fest. Wine-producing ways will you to discover, departing from various villages, the art of the Alsatian wine as well as the work of the wine grower at the heart of the vineyard.

The grape harvest in Alsace is usually taking place from the end of September to the end of October. Near the Kientzheim castle (house of the Saint-Etienne brotherhood), the museum of the Alsatian vineyard and wines offers a significant journey through centuries.

The Haut-Koenigsbourg castle

Built in the 15th century above the city of Orschwiller, the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle is a wonder to visit for kids as well as for adults, with an amazing architecture and its exceptional condition.

The three castles in Husseren

Situated on the Schlossberg hill in Eguisheim, these three castles are probably the eldest in Alsace. Built between the 11th and the 12th centuries, they are situated in one of the most amazing areas in the region.



The Hohlandsbourg castle

As the administrative center of the Habsbourg’s seigniory, the castle was built in 1279, acquired in 1563 and modernized by Lazare de Schwendi. It was dismantled during the “Thiry Years War”.
